ZOOM! 2® Teeth Whitening

ZOOM! Teeth Whitening

ZOOM! 2® - Ignite the white! If you're looking for a million-dollar smile, the solution may be as simple as teeth whitening. Portsmouth dentist Dr. Richard Liu is proud to offer the ZOOM! 2® in-office teeth whitening system. Typically, teeth treated with the ZOOM! 2® method are whitened by six to 10 shades in under an hour.

The Teeth Whitening Procedure

ZOOM! 2® teeth whitening at our Portsmouth office begins with Dr. Liu applying a gel that contains hydrogen peroxide onto a patient's teeth. Then, he positions a special light over the patient's mouth and waits for one hour. The light activates the hydrogen peroxide, causing it to penetrate the enamel of the teeth to ensure a deep, thorough cleaning. Most patients experience no pain or discomfort during this portion of the ZOOM! 2® process. Dr. Richard Liu then removes the light and performs a fluoride treatment to complete the teeth whitening procedure. Join the Portsmouth-area residents who have brightened their smiles through one simple visit to the office of Dr. Richard Liu.

To find out if ZOOM! 2® might be right for you, contact our cosmetic dentistry practice to schedule a consultation.

Porcelain Veneers

For patients who would like to correct teeth that are crooked, chipped, stained, or otherwise less than perfect, porcelain veneers from the Portsmouth, New Hampshire practice of Richard Liu might be the answer. Porcelain veneers are custom-made for each individual tooth, are durable, and are fairly easy to apply.

The Porcelain Veneers Procedure

Because of the customized nature of porcelain veneers, Portsmouth dentist Richard Liu will need you to visit the office twice. During the first visit, Dr. Liu will remove approximately a millimeter of enamel from the surfaces of the teeth that will be receiving veneers. Most patients report very little discomfort during this process; however, for those who request it, Dr. Liu may offer local a anesthetic. He will then take a mold of your teeth so the lab can begin making your custom porcelain veneers. Our Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Maine patients will then have a short wait, usually one or two weeks, before the veneers are ready.

Placement of Porcelain Veneers

When the completed veneers arrive at the office, you will return so that Dr. Liu can permanently affix them to your natural teeth. This is achieved with bonding cement and a curing light. Your new, natural-looking smile is now ready to show off to the world.

Dental Bonding

At our Portsmouth office, dental bonding is an easy and painless way to restore teeth that have become chipped, stained, or cracked. Dental bonding is an excellent option for those who need repairs to their teeth, but are not good candidates for porcelain veneers. Compared with porcelain veneers, dental bonding is also a more cost effective solution for achieving outstanding smile enhancement. The composite resin material used to complete dental bonding procedures is extremely durable and with proper care, bonding is a long lasting cosmetic solution.

The Dental Bonding Procedure

The dental bonding process begins with Dr. Liu painting a thin coating of resin on top of the damaged teeth; this resin has been carefully matched to the color of the surrounding teeth. He then shapes the resin into the desired form and hardens it with a curing lamp. In most cases one visit to our Portsmouth practice is all it takes to complete the dental bonding procedure.

If you are interested in repairing or enhancing your smile with dental bonding, contact our Portsmouth office today! During your dental bonding consultation, Dr. Liu can help you find out if you are a good candidate for this procedure.

Precision Fitted Dentures

Whether you're in need of full, partial or implant-supported dentures, we can accommodate you. Today's technology allows our New Hampshire dentist to fully customize dentures to fit your mouth precisely, ensuring chewing comfort and added strength. For patients missing all their teeth, dentures that are anchored to the mouth with dental implants can provide a more complete solution. Unlike dentures of the past, today's dentures look and feel more natural and realistic than ever. Dentures can now be crafted with all porcelain restorations that are custom tinted to the exact shade you desire.

Benefits of Dentures

Not only do dentures allow patients to have a complete smile, but they also ensure a proper bite and help maintain proper jaw function. Should you choose implant secured dentures, there is also the additional benefit of maintaining jaw bone mass that would normally deplete over time due to tooth loss. A consultation at our Portsmouth, New Hampshire practice will help you decide which dentures will work best for you.  To learn more about the types of dentures available to you, please contact us today.

Dental Crowns

For teeth that are badly cracked or discolored, dental crowns not only repair the damage, but also provide far more effective protection against future injury than such cosmetic treatments as porcelain veneers and teeth whitening. By providing external support to damaged teeth, crowns allow patients to keep their natural teeth for much longer, aiding long-term health of the jawbone.

Each crown is crafted according to the individual needs of each patient. Dr. Richard Liu will make a mold of the area to be treated and then send it to a lab that is highly specialized in crafting first-rate dental appliances. Then, when it is ready, Dr. Liu will fit the crown over the existing tooth and attach it with bonding cement. The patient’s new smile will sparkle for years to come!

Dental Bridges

Dental bridges are an effective way to “bridge” the gap created by a missing tooth. An excellent option for patients who may not be eligible for dental implants, bridges can increase bite strength as well as aid any chewing or speaking problems caused by the missing tooth.

A typical bridge consists of an artificial tooth that is supported on either side by a crown. The crowns are attached to existing teeth in much the same manner as a regular dental crown, and serve to support the artificial tooth. To find out if dental bridges are a good option for you, please contact the cosmetic dentistry practice of Dr. Liu today.

Dental Implants

One of the most exciting innovations in modern cosmetic dentistry, dental implants are often an ideal method for replacing individual missing teeth. Aside from the benefit of filling in gaps in a smile, dental implants are comfortable and extremely durable.

After a support post is implanted into the bone of the patient’s jaw, Dr. Richard Liu will attach an aesthetic crown that has been carefully matched to the color, translucency, and size of the surrounding teeth. For more information on the dental implant process, or to find out if you are a suitable candidate, please read the page about dental implants or contact the office of Dr. Richard Liu.
